ASSOCIATIONS INCORPORATIONS ACT 1981
STATEMENT OF PURPOSES
OF
AUSTRALIAN OLIVE OIL ASSOCIATION INCORPORATED

1.

The name of the incorporated association
is Australian Olive Oil Association Incorporated (in these rules called
"the Association") |
| |
|
| OBJECTIVES
|
| |
|
2.
|
The purposes for which the Association
is established are :- |
| |
|
|
| |
(1)
|
to supply the Australian consumer
with quality olive oil products in a fair and competitive environment,
to foster a clear understanding of the different grades of olive oil
and to expound the benefits of olive oil in nutrition, health and
culinary arts; |
| |
|
|
| |
(2)
|
to effectively promote the consumption
of olive oil through publicity on its nutritional and health benefits,
its unique taste characteristics and the versatility of its uses;
|
| |
|
|
| |
(3)
|
to adopt terminology for the different
grades and types of olive oil that is in harmony with internationally
recognised terminology and the particular needs of the Australian
market place, and to provide this information to the food industry
and the consumer. |

| |
(4)
|
to seek national food authority enforcement
of the labelling requirements for the different grades and types of
olive oil; |
| |
|
|
| |
(5)
|
to establish procedures to ensure
the accurate labelling for the various grades and types of olive oil;
|
| |
|
|
| |
(6)
|
to periodically sample olive oil sold
in Australia, and to submit it to an accredited laboratory for analysis
to determine whether it is properly labelled. |

|
| |
(7)
|
to serve as a clearing house for laboratory
test results on olive oil products that appear to be adulterated or
misbranded; |
| |
|
|
| |
(8)
|
to represent the industry before
government agencies and trade associations, here and abroad, insofar
as they affect the olive oil market in Australia; |

|
|
| |
(9)
|
to promote the common business interests
of the members; |
| |
|
|
| |
(10)
|
to promote the adoption of specific
laws and regulations that will benefit the olive oil industry and
to encourage compliance with all laws and regulations that affect
the industry; |

|
|
| |
(11)
|
to support scientific and other forms
of research that will benefit the olive oil industry; |
| |
|
|
| |
(12)
|
to afford due consideration to and
expression of opinion by the membership on issues affecting the industry;
|
| |
|
|
| |
(13)
|
to co-operate with other organisations,
both public and private, that are organised to foster the growth and
development of the olive oil industry; |
| |
| PROVIDED THAT any of such purposes
shall not be construed so that they are contrary to any provisions of
the Associations Incorporations Act 1981 |
| |
|
|
3.
|
Solely for the purpose of furthering
the purposes set out herein, the Association shall have both within
and outside the State of Victoria the legal capacity of a natural
person. |
To become a member of the association, you must be is nominated and approved for membership as outlined in the rules and regulations of the association. You will then be eligible to be a member of the Association on payment of the entrance fee and annual subscription.
Membership of the Association is divided into two classes; Regular Members (both Provisional Regular Members and Full Regular Members) and Associate Members. Please see the membership guidelines for further information regarding membership of the Australian Olive Oil Association and a schedule of applicable fees.
